A Fun Day of Surfing for Everyone!
For Children and Teens Who Have Mental Disabilities and Their Supporters
It is estimated that between 13-20% of all children and teens living in the united States have a neural diversities. This event focuses on improving the quality of life for these children and teens. By providing a day full of free surf lessons, we hope to give these children a chance to improve their physical fitness, mental/ emotional well being, and create new social opportunities. If interested in being involved in this event, please fill out the wavier packets (that can be accessed with the buttons bellow), and email them to jasminealmeda8@gmail.com.

Physical Fitness
It is recommended that children receive at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day. However, children with special needs may have challenges in finding new ways to get active. This surf day not only allows them to try a new sport, but also gives them the confidence to do something that they have never done before.

Emotional Well-Being
Surfing has been shown to increase the overall well-being of people, regardless of if they have special needs or not. The ocean water and sun light are instant mood boosters. So whether you are a participant, volunteer, parent, or supporter, get out there and go surfing! It will make your day.

Social Opportunity
This day full of free surf lessons will allow children and teens to meet others who also have neural diversities. Besides through surfing, participants will make life-long friends by playing games, ice-breaker activities, yoga, having snacks, swimming in the water, or just relaxing in the sun.

Confidence
Often times, children and teens with special needs might not have the confidence to try something new. However, after they catch their first wave they will feel like a new person. Their confidence will soar and they will feel like they can accomplish anything the world has to offer!
